jodi

I was getting some images together from my sister's wedding last December, so i thought I would share a few of my favorites:

Photographing a wedding is seriously nerve-racking and super exciting for me, because it is so important that nothing goes wrong. i still use film and a manual camera, so there is plenty of room for mistakes. This wedding was particularly difficult because i was also the maid of honor, which meant that i had to be everywhere at once.

The ceremony took place at sunset, so all photography basically had to happen in the few minutes after I was ready and before she was walking down the aisle. Also, it was insanely hot and i was just a mess.

Luckily, the photographs I did manage to take turned out pretty well! I love the Kodak Pro film - the quality of the color and light is just really luminous.
I also took about 1 million photos with my little digital camera through out the week, as did many other people, so i think that when she and her hubby are old and grey, they will have plenty of images to show the grandkids.

camilla engman

One of my favorite artists is Camilla Engman, and I am just in love with her current collaboration with ceramicist Karin Eriksson for Karin's shop called Manos.

I don't think I could even eat off of any of this work because it's too wonderful! Tom will not allow any plate-hanging-on-the-wall business in our house, and I oblige this one request of his - but if I could get my hands on one of these pieces I might have to re-negotiate.

EDIT: the Manos shop is live!!!
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
This week is all about wrapping up my custom pillow orders, doing some spring cleaning, and coming up with money-making schemes. Or, maybe I will just focus on working on my work and continuing to reach out and make connections. I have a few things up my sleeves for the coming months, so I hope you will keep checking in!

posie gets cozy

so in lieu of a post about me, I thought i would send you over to check out something that made my jaw drop because of its' burst of color so early in the morning.
Posie Gets Cozy is the blog of one Alicia Paulson, creator of beautiful things and crafty queenliness. That was a lot to say. Try saying it out loud, it's a good time.
I have been reading her website for a while now, and I really enjoy every bit of it. She is an inspiring crafter and photographer, and I have learned a lot from her. Actually, it's because of her that i began to take my product shots more seriously and actually use a tripod to get details of my pillows.
Anyway, these shots of her visit to a tulip farm are really very enjoyable, but I recommend taking a minute or several to look at her other endeavors.

In other news, I quit my job! Surprise!

linn olofsdotter

it is actually impossible for me to choose my favorite images from illustrator
Linn Olofsdotter.

She has quite the resume - hailing from Sweden and moving to Brazil with her husband to start their own design firm, she dabbled in many different mediums before focusing strongly on illustration. Her work is now featured in publications such as Bon Magazine and Plaza Magazine. She also collaborates with her designer husband, Nando Costa, who happens to be one of my favorite designers. Several years ago I was invited to a dinner that he was at, and I was totally star-struck and didn't talk to him at all. That also happened when I met April Greiman, but that's another story.

See more of Linn's beautiful work here!

Thanks to Linn for permission to post her images!

Plum preview

this is something I have been working on. I made a gocco print this weekend, but for some reason there were bare spots in the prints. In a way, I like the effect because it gives the image sort of a roughed up contrast to the line work. I am going to experiment with adding more color and using the print as a base for more. What do you think?
