I was going to wait another week, but why not release the goodies now?

valentines
They are flat with an envelope, just like the single cards I gave to classmates way back when.
They are printed archivally on the same beautiful textured paper as my fine art prints, so you can even gift them as frameable "mini-prints". Check back in next week!

2012 Calendar
I have been putting a calendar out since 2009, and I really like every year more than the year before. This year is my favorite so far! It's a little bit bigger than previous years, it's printed on 100% recycled paper, and I have positioned each of the illustrations in a way that will allow you to cut them off for framing. All of these improvements are the result of you guys telling me what you would like to see. I love hearing what you think, so please feel free to send me a note or leave a comment!
I shipped out the pre-orders yesterday, and each package went out with an extra special edition print - my way of thanking you for supporting my shop and making it possible for me to put this out year after year. I love what I do, and I am so thankful to be able to keep doing it!
Some new things are on the horizon as well - my first tea towel will be available next week!
That's way too many exclamation points! Coffee!

play
I've been working on patterns and color fields a lot lately. I'm kind of obsessed with drawing and pattern play, and investigating possibilities for how they could be used. The pink scales will be fabric soon...

psssst
hello there.
Lots of new stuff going on around here - and today our new babysitter starts so this mama will be back in the studio on a somewhat regular basis!
To celebrate that and my new aquatic series, head on over to Lottie Loves to enter to win my Zigzag Fish print! You need only to leave a comment on her post and a winner will be chosen at random. Good luck!

hello, handsome
well hello there.
Slowly but surely I am getting back into work and have a few new things up my sleeve. Here is a little peek at a new set of cards that will be available very soon.
The little fish you see is part of a new NEW project wherein I am breaking away from the botanical theme and trying some new stuff. I am pretty excited about the future of my stationary line and can't wait to get more time to work.
I am fantasizing about a new studio space that is larger and has a small table for Ava to work at when she's older. I had a lot of encouragement throughout my life to develop as an artist, and I am so excited to find out what it is she will want for herself. If it isn't art or music or programming, we will all have something new to learn...

2011 Calendar
I am working on the 2011 calendar, and am very excited to announce that it will be available for wholesale! I am setting up my forms and getting things in order, so if you know of a local shop that might be interested in carrying my calendar this year - please let me know!
This is the first step in a my big plans for 2011. I can't wait to share what else I have lined up...
Have a great weekend, friends. The weather is supposed to be very nice, and we are looking forward to a hike through the woods and maybe some fig clafouti.

forever

Hello, August. When did you show up?
I have been working on some cool stuff but I am just not quite ready to share. Except of course, this little note. It's actually part of something else, but I thought I would play with it as an idea. I was at a local store this weekend looking for a wedding card, and I was sorely disappointed in the selection. I have been looking at local and national retailers, and rather than think "I could do that", I've actually been doing it. Making things that I think they could market, contacting the appropriate people, and saying "Hi. I did this thing. What do you think?" So far, I have not gotten much response, but I just started making contact last week.
Are you someone I should talk to?
This week I hope to get some images together of a few projects from the last several weeks to share with you.
...sidebar...
I have been really distracted with the healthcare reform debates. Actually, I don't think you can call any of it a "debate" so much as a yelling match. Not even a yelling match, mostly just people yelling and being afraid. As someone who does not have health insurance, I kind of resent the people who do have healthcare who are getting so mad. Hasn't Obama said many times that if you have health insurance already, this won't even affect you? So why are they sooooo angry? I am a self-employed, contributing member of society. I pay taxes. I take care of myself. I can't afford private health insurance. Does that mean I don't deserve health care? It just doesn't make sense to me.
