productive amy

i have been doing some serious nesting lately. The pillows above are for someone else, but I kind of want to keep them for myself!
Tom got a new light for my studio - a giant lightbulb so I can always have bright ideas. It makes me smile.
I finally hung some artwork above our couch. We have lived here for three years already, but everything I did there just seemed not right. Finally I collected all the small pieces we had all over the house and decided I liked them much better all together. I can list where the art came from if you are interested, but for now I need to get back to sewing!

Also, I really want to paint our fireplace white, but Tom is very against it. Any other ideas as to how to make it less....dark and outdated?
have a happy week ~

Love the light and the pillows. Bright ideas, figurative and literal, are always good.

I think if it were my FP, I would paint it. Tough call tho. I'm picturing those "designed to sell" shows - and they always paint them! But I can see the value in maintaining the natural brick (like your woodwork), too!

I think we should paint it or maybe there is a false front that could be built? hmmmm.....

Your place looks great, friend! I totally want to come over and hang out. I love the lightbulb lamp! I passed over one on Craigslist last year, since I didn't have the "perfect" spot for it. I should of bought it--drats!

Don't fear the paint, Amy! I am very happy with our painted brick fireplace makeover. You could cover it somehow, but I'm cheap and would just go for the paint, but would leave the mantle alone.

hey there, thought i'd share my past fp/paint dilemma. same thing went on at the last house i lived at. my (ex) hus was very against white paint and our brick was quite ugly too. you know you'll be happier with it white forever, but there's something to be said for the natural brick and more importantly your guy's opinion. since mutual happiness seems to be the issue, yes a facing would be "easiest". one could be built with a facing- if the fp is used for fire it makes a dif on how you'd do it, i think. since you're quite the handy crafty gal you prob will figure something but ask a local handyman for a consult. they deal with crazy home details and odds and ends constantly. micah, my other half is a handyman and creative to boot. feel free to email him, he would be happy to share ideas. let me know and i'll get you his email.~jill v~

wow! i love everything. the light, the pillows. your house. everything. i think you can't go wrong with white fireplace... perhaps not a bright white? maybe a very light cool grey? almost white, but a nice grey one that would help pick up the blues and greens?

I keep showing this to Tom like, "SEE?!" I know it should be painted. I really want to do it while he is gone some weekend, but that seems kind of mean, even though i think he would like it.
