inspiration where you seek it

I needed a kick in the pants to get started with next year's calendar, so I visited the Boerner Botanical Gardens.

Butterflies, chipmunks, and beautiful aromas accompanied me on my very slow stroll through the grounds. Sometimes when I am doing something I enjoy, I have to remind myself to STOP THINKING and just be there. I was not on anyone else's clock today, so I really could just take my time. For those of you familiar with my work, you may be able to imagine what will come of these patterns and textures (oh my, am I excited about the lily pads!).

Speaking of patterns:

cyclical

I had the opportunity to ride the most perfect ferris wheel this past weekend. It was high on a hill, all alone and majestic, the colors of its' seats made more saturated by the dark clouds. A rainbow over the lighthouse. A single ticket booth and a ride operator who was happy to let us go on our own ride, sped up and extra long. Cotton candy and a hair band completed the fair experience.

Yesterday I cut all my hair off! It's a time for change - what happens inwardly always manifests itself somewhere outside, doesn't it? I don't know about you, but sometimes I just feel a quiver to CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE something, and rather than run away to Europe for 9 months, I cut my hair. Way cheaper.

good old paper cut$

So after analyzing my blog stats, I have discovered that my Paper Cuts installation post is STILL the most popular post that people are searching for. Which is awesome. I wanted to let you know that I am working on more! But these babies are huge and my house is not - so if you think you might want one of your very own, please get in touch! The original three are for sale, and although I would miss them, I would like to make room for the next big thing.

Have a happy weekend - Tom is going to embark on a long motorcycle trip to Minneapolis, and I am going to focus on getting a lot of things done and maybe beachin' it.

Opens Tomorrow:

Opening Reception Friday, July 10, 6pm - 10pm
2375 S Howell Ave (former Paper Boat space)

I am showing 2 of 3 paper panels in this show, but all three are available for purchase. It's kind of an odd space and there are many participants, but I think it will be a lot of fun! Hope to see you there....

independence

I hope you had a great weekend. Another week with little to no time to update this blog - so busy!
I am participating in a show this Friday: the MIAD Alumni Show. I don't have announcement images yet, but hope to get that soon and I will give you more details. If you are in Milwaukee, I would love to see you this Friday, July 10th, at the former Paper Boat space. Hooray!
